LANGUAGE, An invention made by the mankind thousands of years
ago to communicate among the community was one of the prime propellers for the
advancements we are witnessing today. Language matured along with the human
race and is playing a crucial role in this present day world. It’s always an
interesting aspect to investigate the genesis of language. There were many
conflicting theories that try to unveil the origins of this universal
necessity. One spool of thought believes that language is just a part of
Natural selection which always tries to make our lives better. Other
conflicting theory believes that language is an outcome of a matured
infrastructure in the Human brain. Let there be any theories, one question that
left unanswered was:
“Why people
at different locations of this planet speak different languages to convey a
common message?”
The number of distinctive languages in the world was expected
to be around 6909 and even researchers admit that this count is at a very farther
distance from the actual figure. We all feel comfortable to communicate and
express our views in our mother tongue. But the globalization today demands
multilingual skills from us. After the advent of globalization, the entire
world was compressed into a small global village where every part of it can be
accessed at a cost of a click. This broke the shackles and completely erased
the demographic boundaries which transformed everybody into a Universal
citizen. Though the globalization succeeded in gelling up the world, it failed
to remove the linguistic barriers which prevail in all parts of the world. This
triggered the thought of being bilingual to communicate and express our feelings
in a language that we are working or living in.
The need for learning a language other than our mother tongue
is humongous. In this competitive world, it’s really a mundane task to guess
the place or country that you are going to work in future. Right from our
school days we were taught in English, which obviously made us a bit
comfortable in English. But English is no more a Universal language. There are
many countries in the world which demand the knowledge and speaking abilities
in their respective languages. So, every one of us must keep our mind always
open to learn a new language. Poor speaking skills in the language (related to
the country where you are working in) can make you inferior. It also makes you
dependant on others always and sometimes you will be ill-treated also.
It is not so easy to speak a foreign language without a
proper practise equipped with some scientifically proven techniques. It’s easy
to read and write a language but that is not the case with speaking. It is
sufficient to practise alphabet of that language to read or write but in order
to speak well in that language it requires a lot of practise and expertise in
learning methods. Books (like “Learn Spanish in 30 days”) with some attractive
cover pages cannot help you instead it requires a scientific way with which our
human brain can easily assimilate the language. One such technique is the
“Pimsleur approach”.
Note:- This article was intended to make students and other people aware of an efficient and affordable tool to learn speaking foreign languages. This was found on internet and we would like to share it with our readers and there is no intention to advertise or support a particular tool.
What is
Pimsleur approach?
Pimsleur approach follows a method that your mother used to
follow when you are a child. In our childhood, when we were making some
meaningless sounds to express our pain, sorrow and happiness, Mothers spell
some words before us and forces us to repeat the same and this process
continues till we spell our first word. This is how we master our Mother tongue
and the same trick applies here in Pimsleur approach as well but with some
additional research on our brain wiring. At different ages of a human life the
ability to grab words in a linguistic perspective varies. It means our human
brain is tuned to a specified range to learn some new words in a specified
time. This approach makes use of this property and makes you comfortable in your
language of choice. It provides you with a phrase and prompts you to spell it
back within a span of time say 40 seconds. This time interval keeps on growing
means it again prompts you to repeat the same phrase after an hour time and
this practise goes on for some tens of days. This practice involuntarily feeds
these phrases in your brain and you can then easily recollect those phrases
whenever in need. The phrases that were given to you will be prioritized based
on the frequency of their use in that language in your daily life.
This approach has got several Pros and cons as well. Pros
includes, this approach is the best one available for blind to start speaking a
foreign language. Also, this makes you recollect the phrases by which you can
sharpen your brain thereby reducing the risk of Parkinson and Alzheimer
diseases. Cons include this cannot transform you into a master in a language instead it will introduce you to
the language and make you speak the first words effortlessly with which later
on you can exploit the knowledge.
Why should I
believe this approach?
You can even
follow this approach to learn a language (30 languages offered) of choice
provided you have 10 $ with you. This course comes with scientifically designed
disks which introduces you to the simple conversations of the language that you
want to learn. There may be a slight hesitation in you when there is a monetary
investment involved. This course comes with a 100 % money back guarantee after
30 days (read the terms & conditions thoroughly before purchasing) if you
feel that the course is not so worthy to have. So, what’s there to hesitate?
It’s a matter of 10 $ and even you can get back the money if you dislike it. So
give it a try!!! This approach was rated good by some experts in this field and
there were also some purchases from premier organizations like FBI, New York
Times etc.
We end this
article with a statement: Foreign language is always needed to fight and
progress in this competitive world. It gives you a lot of confidence to express
your thoughts. The languages you learn are for necessity but your mother tongue
is your identity. It is the language that your mother taught you and it’s your
duty to respect it. No matter how far you go, how rich you become, never feel
shy to communicate in your mother tongue and insult it because
“Insulting our
Mother tongue is like insulting our Mother”.
30th jan was the last post?
ReplyDeletekeep posting,we will be reading them(May be not regularly, but ofcourse some time)
Well I have came here with a query which google didn't pulled out answer...
We will be seeing some posts in facebook which will be saying "Share/like/comment on this post and the people(poor or money needed) will get paid by facebook or some other company"
Is this true?
Hi Anonymous,
DeleteFirst of all thank you very much for your interest in Student Dynasty. Sorry for the delay in the reply. Coming to your question. There is no truth in such posts which urge you to like/share /comment posts on facebook or any other company. Because facebook for example is not a single person's money it is an organization with a lot of public offerings in the form of shares etc. So such a company has no right in donating money in an unofficial manner and it is a crime to do so. All such posts you come across is to increase the activity in their respective pages so as to profit from the increased traffic in their pages or groups. Better don't encourage such activities. As You said its been quite long time since we had a post on this blog. Hopefully soon we will comeback with some useful information..Hope this is helpful :-)
